Psoriasis, though non-contagious, can be a chronic condition. It can cause severe itchiness and rashes. Psoriasis can be a frustrating skin condition.
Home remedies of Psoriasis:
Soak in water:
Taking a shower, soaking in a tub or swimming can help to rehydrate the dry skin and help to remove the thick psoriasis scales without causing any harm to it. This is the best and easiest home remedy to keep your skin hydrated. Soaking in water should be done regularly to reduce the itching and redness caused due to psoriasis. But it should be ensured that the water is not too hot. Too much hot water can cause redness of the skin. After stepping out of warm water, apply a moisturizer immediately. This will lock your skin and prevent it from drying.
Apply apple cider vinegar:
Use of apple cider vinegar is also considered to be an effective home remedy for treating psoriasis. Apple cider vinegar can be dissolved in the bath water. It is a very good disinfectant for the skin.
Aloe Vera application:
Application of aloe Vera is also known to be an effective home remedy for treating psoriasis. Aloe Vera cream or gel can be applied on the affected areas to get relief from swelling and redness. Aloe Vera gel can be applied along with garlic to get a soothing effect.
Banana peel also helps to cure psoriasis. It can be applied twice or thrice daily to get relief from swelling and inflammation.
Compress of cabbage leaves is effective in treating psoriasis. Cabbage leaves can be applied on the affected areas directly. It calms the itchy skin and helps in treating psoriasis.
Vitamin E is effective in treating psoriasis. It improves the skin conditions and reduces the itchiness of the skin which is caused due to psoriasis.
Consumption of one cup of fresh bitter gourd juice along with a teaspoon of lemon juice is an effective home remedy for psoriasis. The mixture of bitter gourd juice and lemon juice should be taken on an empty stomach to get maximum benefits.
Short durations of sun exposure can reduce the psoriasis condition. But excess exposure to sun can cause damage to skin and aggravate the redness of the skin.
