Prickly heat can be irritating eruption of the skin due to blocking in the sweat glands. Heat rashes and tiny swellings are formed on the skin. This condition can cause severe itching. Generally, prickly heats occur in hot and humid conditions. But it can also arise in cold weather if you are overdressed. Infants and new born babies are more likely to get affected by prickly heat. Try to avoid synthetic clothes and stick to cotton clothes. Pure cotton clothes worn in summer can prevent you from prickly heat.
Oatmeal powder is an effective remedy to teat prickly heat. Adding a little amount of oatmeal powder in the water can give relief from inflammation and soothes the skin.
Herbal and non-perfumed talcum powders should be applied after bath. This will help to absorb extra moisture from the body and protect it from prickly heat.
Ice cubes are one of the best choices to treat prickly heat. Rub ice cubes on the affected areas to reduce the inflammation.
